Dan Mesches became President and CEO of internationally renowned Sprinkles in 2017. Sprinkles is a favorite of celebrities and has been featured on Oprah, The Today Show, and Good Morning America. While growing Sprinkles to 24 bakeries, Mesches also opened 50 Cupcake ATMs nationwide, launched a DTC platform, and expanded Sprinkles’ CPG product line to include chocolates, cake mix, cupcake truffles and more. Innovation has been the key to Sprinkles growth. The team completely reinvented its tech stack to make ordering quicker and easier for the guest as well as redesigned the service model at the bakeries. Sprinkles is now actively franchising domestically and aboard. In addition to his role with Sprinkles, Mesches is also the CEO for Picnik Restaurants. Picnik is recognized as one of the top emerging brands in the US, serving up Real Food + Good Vibes with a menu dedicated to delicious healthy for you dining.
Prior to Sprinkles, Mesches was President and CEO of Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Also a celebrity favorite, Hopdoddy was named one of the “The Best Burgers in America” by Food & Wine, one of the “33 Best Burgers in the Entire Country” by Thrillist in 2013, one of The Daily Meal’s best “101 Burgers in America,” as well as one of the “10 Brands to Watch” for 2015 by CNBC and MSN.
Dan was Founder, President and CEO of Star Restaurant Group, where he developed some of Washington, D.C.’s most acclaimed restaurants. His restaurants were the recipients of numerous awards and accolades including, Esquire Magazine “Best New Restaurant” for Red Sage while Conde Nast Traveler picked Zola as one the top 75 new restaurants in the world. Additionally, a multi-unit concept called, Raku – an Asian Diner, was named one of the country’s top new restaurants by Gourmet magazine.
Mesches developed a well-known and respected consulting brand with industry leaders as clients, including Bloomin’ Brands, Delaware North Companies, Guest Services Inc, Fleming’s Steakhouse, Harley Davidson Museum, The Hay Adams, and the Ritz Carlton Company.
